Covid-19 Updates

From the Camp Etna Board  5-15-20

We hope that you and your family have maintained your health and safety through these trying times. Here in Maine we have been doing our best to maintain a sense of normalcy in a not so normal time.

As the situation with COVID–19 is extremely dynamic we continue to make proactive decisions that are grounded in care for our members and patrons, while also doing our part to help stop the spread of the virus.

Over the last weeks, as more communities have called for increased social distancing to help contain the virus we are evaluating our camp’s operations this coming season.

While camp is not open as of yet we have to consider what our season is going to look like with what is happening Globally.

Every community’s public health needs are different, so we want to make sure we play a constructive role by taking responsible actions, guided by the CDC and other experts, to continue to do what’s right for our members and patrons.

While our Governor has allowed camps to open starting June 1 our largest hurdle will be the 14 day quarantine to enter Maine. This basically means presenters can come to Maine, however, they must self-quarantine for 14 days before they are allowed to be among the public.

As we are sure you understand it is extremely difficult for our presenters to take three weeks of their lives and dedicate it to camp when their schedules are filled with other obligations, family, and navigating this constantly changing situation. For this reason Camp Etna has decided to do all of its program online this year. More information will be made available shortly.

While we will miss the intimacy a classroom filled with people offers, we also believe that continuing to evolve and move forward is something that Camp Etna strives to do and the online workshops are an extension of that.

These are truly uncharted times and we’re learning right alongside you as we navigate COVID–19 together. As the situation continues to evolve, we may make some more changes, but through it all we will lead through the lens of our mission and values which is to inspire and nurture the human spirit for the advancement of the philosophy and religion of Spiritualism.
